Efficiency Comparison Calculator

Last updated 10 months ago

The Efficiency Comparison Calculator is designed to help users analyze and compare the energy costs associated with operating two different motors over a period of time. This calculator is useful tool to determine potential cost savings when upgrading from a less efficient motor to a premium efficiency motor.

Step-by-Step Guide to Using the Calculator:

  1. Input the Operating Parameters:

    • Enter the operating hours per year. This is the number of hours the motor runs annually.
    • Input the energy cost per kilowatt-hour (kWh). This value should be in pence per kWh and will be converted automatically to pounds (£) within the calculation.
    • Specify the motor power rating (KW).
  2. Enter Details for Each Motor:

    • For Motor #1 (Premium Efficiency):
      • Enter the motor cost and its full-load efficiency percentage.
    • For Motor #2 (Comparison Motor):
      • Enter the motor cost and its full-load efficiency percentage.
  3. Review the Results:

    • Click the "Calculate" button to compute the results.
    • The calculator will display:
      • The energy cost for both motors.
      • The difference in operating costs between Motor #1 and Motor #2.
      • A summary of how much can be saved annually by switching to the premium efficiency motor.
